 - 1994 Review

Due to shortage of staff and funds, review of the NPIC has been placed on hold. The review would have encompassed all the necessary aspects of Information and Communication including Information Technology, the Internet service and other related applications. However, plans are now underway for the review to commence

A draft policy on Information and Communication Technology is also required .

Ministerial Support

Over the past five years, this Office has the privilege of serving two Ministers under the old organizational structure: Minister for Information and Communications and the Prime Minister. However under the current arrangement, the Office is now responsible to the Minister for State Enterprises and Information. The Office provides administrative support to the Ministry is another specific task to be undertaken.

Budget:

In 2003 recurrent was K384,000 which K259,200 was personnel emoluments and only about K124,800 for Goods and Services. Cash flow problem prevented releases of much of these monies during the year. Requested K2.4 million is 2004 Budget estimates of which 70 percent is Goods and Services.
